03/21/2005: "wowgirl - Internet Sneak Preview"

Well, if that title doesn't explain it, I can't help you. It's been 4 years since we shot wowgirl, and other than a few members of the cast & crew, no one has seen it all the way through. This is because I'm a slacker. However, for the cast, crew, and the few people who read this blog, welcome to the show.

In about 3 weeks, the entire rough cut of wowgirl will be available to view online.

Got your attention? Here's the deal: I will make a media file of some sort (to be determined) that includes the entire rough cut of wowgirl available for a period of approx 6-8 hours. It will be password protected, and you will have to get the password from me via email (since this is not for public consumption yet). There will be missing music, bad sound and dialogue flubs in certain spots, etc. But more or less, the whole film will be watchable. For those that have seen the first rough cut, this cut will include the re-shot opening scene at the picnic table, the re-shot Neil/Kate sequence, some minor editing changes, and more music.

The bandwidth will not be a problem on my end. You will need broadband, of course, to see it. The size should be pretty decent, I may even offer multiple sizes for varying bandwidth rates.

A few details need to be sorted out, and you can help. What format do you want it in? The options are Windows Media, Real, and Quicktime - does anyone have a preference (or more importantly, a format they can't handle)? Also, the day and time. My initial thought is April 9th, maybe 4pm to midnight. That's a Saturday, but it's certainly not set in stone. Any problems, or other preferred times?

I don't know, I'm pretty excited by the idea. You?

Actually, Kickin' Bird is sorta correct. There was an early draft of wowgirl that had more of a broad/spoof/slapstick comedy then the drama/comedy hybrid that it became. But once I realized it was headed in that direction, I had to cut the scene where Kickin' Bird (sometimes called "The Duck") was written as a character that was an homage to "The Wolf" from Pulp Fiction.

And I would argue that Sarachkah gave me the first really insightful critique of the wowgirl script, so there was some involvement, just not on the production side. But of course you can see it, silly.

Sarah, I was cut out the film for lack of time to produce it or something...Four years later I wonder what the Elf's excuse is?

I wasn't involved in any way?

My Preferred player is WMP but what can I say I am a slave to Microsoft. April 9 would be great
