02/07/2005: "Thrice Told Transmission?"
Okay, very weird. At the begining of the day, I get one of Warren Ellis' random email list blurts. He was talking about the music feature on myspace.com. Which I've never heard of before. Then, somewhere (can't remember), I'm reading about Rivers Cuomo and he put up a huge essay on what happened to him and Weezer between Pinkerton and the new album coming out. It's very weird, but a neat read. Posted on myspace.com. Which, as I said, I've never heard of before. And then, out of the blue, my friend Keith emails me an invitation to join - you guessed it - myspace.com. Which, perhaps I have mentioned, I have never heard of before.
All of this before 11:00am this morning. My question to you - is this flat out a sign that I need to freakin' sign up? I mean, as far as I can tell this place is mostly a friend-networking type of place. Probably some singles stuff (which, rather obviously I hope, I have less than zero interest in). The blog is uber-redundant. The mail and IM equally so. There are some cool features. The music thing is kinda neat - free place to stream your MP3s to people. But I'm months away from any serious work on music and the other features I don't care about. Still - three times in three hours. Very strange. Any thoughts?
