Well, he's out. Not in an Elvis-Permanent sort of way, but in more of a "My desk job is slowly destroying every last ounce of soul I have left, so I'm moving to Alabama" sort of way. Yes, I'm aware the potential for Alabama jokes is atmospheric, but I'm not in the mood. The office is a little more quiet without him.

Jeffrey Wells writes a movie opinion column called Hollywood Elsewhere over at Kevin Smith's news site, Moviepoopshoot.com. It's a damn good column, even if you don't share Well's film aesthetic. I agree with him maybe 50% of the time about movies.
He also runs some political stuff every now and then, which is cool - it is his column. I don't usually share his opinions in that regard, but he does publish reader responses, so he balances his stuff with opposing views okay. Today I almost choked after reading a letter from one of his readers.

So I've got a few DVDs. Okay, a few hundred DVDs. Big deal, it's what I collect. Well, that and comics. Hmmm, already this is not going well. Start over.
Since I've gotten engaged, I have reprioritized, and my DVD purchases have diminshed significantly. Though recently, I've discovered that one of the local grocery stores (with a video rental place inside) has started selling used rental DVDs for $5.99. But I've cut way back on new purchases. However, there are some things that are still musts. Like Angel and Buffy Seasons, The Simpsons, Alias. Of course, any and all Kevin Smith DVDs. Star Trek Movies, and Geek Culture films that I think are important.
On September 7th, I might just have to sell my car. Here's the list of DVDs that will be released that day. Currently - I'm expecting more because they just keep coming. Miramax is half the damn problem.

Okay, here's one for the peanut gallery: Have you ever had a nose hair just seem to appear out of nowhere? Like, it wasn't there in the morning when you got ready for work, and then three hours later it's grown like 4mm and is prodding the area under your nose. How did it grow so fast? Was it already grown, but curled up in the nostril, just waiting to unfurl itself at the right moment? Is there some sort of nose hair fertilizer I might have accidentally ingested? Chocolate doughnut holes, for example? Any insight? Camel, you're like 86.2% hair, you got anything?
And stop looking at me like that. You've got nose hair too. Unless you had your nose hair surgically removed by lasers. Which is gonna suck next winter, when you get about a billion more colds then everyone else.
