Here’s How It Is

My name is Chris Ethridge.

I am computer programmer, specializing in server-side Java code. More recently, I have spent time writing heavy client-side browser applications and ASP.NET Server Side applications. I like programming (though not ASP.NET, as it is the devilspawn) and I’m pretty good at making things work like they’re supposed to. The code itself does not always look pretty, but you don’t hire me for the bows and ribbons.

I am a musician, on occasion. Far less frequently in recent times, but the muse is calling more loudly these days and I just bought a new effects pedal. You’ll undoubtedly read about my exploits on this matter here.

I am a sceenwriter and a filmmaker. It is my one true artistic passion (wait, isn’t that two?), and I will do it for the rest of my life on some level. I have made some films with my friends. We will make more.

Most importantly, I am a husband. I live in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta, GA with my amazing and incredibly gorgeous wife, K. We have a dog named Razor and a cat named Dakota. Our third pet, a large and beautiful cat named Baby, recently passed away from renal failure. It has been a sad few months and we miss him terribly.

I used to have this other blog. I didn’t use my real name, and I wrote rather infrequently about whatever was on my mind. It was what it was.

This is my new blog. It has fancy New Tech. Tags. Modern CSS. Same old neon green.

On this blog, I will write rather infrequently about whatever is on my mind. But I will tag those things in homage to this beast called “organization”, and I will also regularly post links of interest to me as research for my writings.

Come on in and look around. There are a few things still out of place. The sidebar needs work, the gravatar graphic is ugly yellow, and Internet Explorer is having an issue with the CSS (must be Tuesday), but if you’re reading my blog and you’re still using Internet Explorer, you deserve everything you get. Even my mother uses Firefox.
